Time taken to cover the man is the time taken to cover length of the train itself.

Here, the length of the train 300m & time to pass the man is 30 seconds.

∴ Speed of tram $= \frac{300}{30} m s^{- 1} = 10 m s^{- 1} = 10 \times \frac{18}{5} = 36 k m p h$

∴ The relative speed of the train = 36+ 4 = 40 kmph.

Here, distance of the station from passing point will be equal to the distance covered by the train in 15 minutes.

∴ Distance $= (40 \times \frac{15}{60}) = 10 k m [A s, d i s \tan c e = T i m e \times v e l o c i t y]$

So, the man will cover 10 km distance in $\frac{10}{4}$ = 2.5 hours

ans: The man reached the station after 2.5 hours.
